Wrapping Party with TAMIU Athletics Team

It’s time to decorate all the presents collected with pretty bows! The TAMIU Athletic Team put a toy drive together for foster youth receiving CASA advocacy. We are hosting a wrapping party to get the toys ready for the holiday. Here’s a story that was published by TAMIU:

Voz De Ninos Toy Drive begins Thursday

LAREDO, Texas (November 8, 2016) – The Annual Voz De Ninos Toy Drive begins this Thursday. Donations will be accepted at the door to all home games in lieu of an admission fee.

Voz De Niños is a non-profit organization located in Laredo that works under Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) to advocate for the best interest of children under state care.
Foster children who have been removed from their homes through no fault of their own are assigned to CASA volunteers tasked with aiding them with safety. CASA advocates for a safe and healthy living environment to encourage each child’s academic success and medical needs while ensuring they have a voice in court during an unfortunate transitional period.

TAMIU is helping gather gifts for the 56 children under Voz de Niños care this holiday season. The dates of the toy drive are from Nov. 3 through Dec. 3.

TAMIU is accepting toys, age appropriate gifts, gift cards and wrapping paper. Voz De Niños will be accepting both toys and donations for youth up to 20 years old.

There are currently 56 children under the care of Voz De Ninos. In order to properly distribute gifts an age and gender breakdown can be found below (Toy guns and weapons can not be accepted as donations):
